Pink Oyster Spawn for Warm Weather Grows
Pink oysters colonise substrate at a speed that still surprises us. This pink oyster mushroom grain spawn is 1.5kg of millet and milo grain fully colonised with a vigorous Pleurotus djamor strain. Spawn it into straw or bulk substrate and you can be picking bright pink clusters in a matter of weeks.
What Is Included
- 1 x 1.5kg pink oyster grain spawn bag
- Access to our online growing guide
Best Substrates
Pasteurised wheat straw is the classic choice for pink oysters, and it is cheap and easy to source. They also do well on hardwood sawdust pellets, coffee grounds mixed with straw, and CVG substrate.
How to Use
- Break the spawn up inside the bag.
- Mix through pasteurised substrate at 10 to 20 percent by weight.
- Incubate warm, ideally 24 to 28°C. Pinks hate the cold.
- Fruit with high humidity, indirect light and plenty of fresh air.
Our Tip
Pink oysters are perfect for the summer months when blue and pearl oysters struggle. We run them from May to September in an unheated shed with excellent results. In winter, keep them somewhere warm like an airing cupboard or a mushroom incubator.
Storage
Unlike most spawn, pink oyster does not like the fridge. Keep it at room temperature and use it within a few days of arrival.
